What are you doing?

Just sitting there.

Just “being.”

I’m not talking about physical location. I’m talking about on the inside. That part of you that no one else sees. The real you. What is it doing? “What is it supposed to be doing” you might ask?

These last few days I have really been thinking about “what” it is that I am suppose to be doing. (Future vocation, life, where I will be… Just pondering the future really). And I have came to the conclusion that I have NO idea. BUT, I do know that it is NOT suppose to be NOTHING! So after this time of sitting around realizing nothing, I REALIZED something. I realized that I had been overcome with one word: “familiarity.”

I am not talking about a familiarity with respect to location. I am talking deeper, within yourself deep. DEEP! We all become familiar with the things in our life that we see and use and experience everyday. ”There is nothing new under the sun” kind of feeling. I think that we have all been there. Sometimes that same familiarity transfers over into our relationships. Our relationships with our friends, family, husbands, wives, and dare I say, God. At the point where we just want MORE! MORE meaning, MORE from life, MORE………………. passion. It was here, in this moment, that I realized: I may not know what I am suppose to do with the rest of my life, but the part of me that no one else sees now has a purpose. A purpose to be passionate. Even when my emotions or my feelings do not want to. Because without passion what are we? LAME!

We have to realize that…

Passion is NOT an emotion.

Passion is NOT a personality.

Familiarity KILLS passion.

We have gotten way too caught up in what we do and therefore we place too much of our worth and value in what we do. No matter what we do, after awhile we will get tired of doing it. This is the point that we need passion.

Without passion we have no power, we have no witness. Worship without passion is dead, marriage without passion is dead, life without passion is dead, faith without deeds is dead. Everything fades without passion. The only way that we are going to affect other people who need Christ is to let them see Christ in us. And that is our job every single day, everywhere that we go. God is in the small stuff. Be bold.
